"Sussie" was my mother's name for "a little surprise." The night Sussie was born, I had to run out on an errand while Chelsea was whelping. I left a friend to watch the whelping. I was only gone 30 minutes, and when I came back, I asked if the black tri bitch that I was hoping for had been born yet. My friend said that no other puppies had been born. I was so disappointed. A black bitch is what I had wanted out of the litter. Another puppy was born, and still no bitch for me. Then, as I was looking at the puppies again, I realized there was one more puppy than we thought we had. Chelsea HAD had a puppy while I was gone...my black tri bitch, my Sussie.
